New Volkswagen Touareg

In the early part of 2010 Volkswagen unveiled the new Touareg which is the German car manufacturers midsized crossover type SUV

. The first generation of the Touareg went on sale in 2002; in 2003 it won Car and Driver magazine's Best Luxury SUV. The first generation received a slight facelift in 2007 to freshen it up and keep it in line with VWs design ethos.

The new Touareg boasts some of VWs latest technology such as Dynamic Light Assist, unlike adaptive high beam this new technology ensures that cars in front are not illuminated by the Touaregs high beam while still lightening up the area around.

Other new technologies in the Touareg include:

Adaptive cruise control with Stop & go system

Lane departure warning system

Blind Spot Monitor

Pre-crash system for front with full automatic emergency braking

Area View with four cameras

Adaptive Air Suspension with continuous damping control (CDC) and Adaptive Roll Compensation

Aisin eight-speed automatic transmission

The new Volkswagen Touareg in London comes with a choice of three engines, which includes two diesels and one petrol-electric hybrid model. The diesels come as a 4.1 litre V8 or a 3.0 litre V6, the petrol-electric hybrid comes with a 3.0 litre V6 petrol power plant. The most popular engine configuration is the smaller diesel; the 3.0 litre provides enough power, is the most economical and is the cheapest to buy.

The suspension in the new Touareg differs depending on which model you opt for, the SE model comes with the standard suspension which is soft enough to be comfortable yet firm enough not to produce body roll. The Escape model has a slightly raised suspension making it more suitable for off roading, the Altitude model comes with a lower suspension giving a much more sporty appearance and ride.
