New York Giants Tickets - Giants Cut To 75

Each season, the coaches and front offices of every team in the National Football

League are faced with the tough task of cutting down their rosters to 53 players before the start of the season. Leading up to that final number, the team must also hit other cuts. Between the third and fourth preseason games, the teams in the NFL had to cut their rosters to 75. The New York Giants acted on five players in order to reach the goal, and fans with New York Giants tickets may be surprised with who ended up on the outs because of the cut. Some were off of the roster because of extenuating circumstances, while others were simply waived.

Jim Sorgi, Quarterback: Sorgi is perhaps the biggest loss of the bunch. The Giants were forced to place him on injured reserve because of a shoulder injury suffered during a preseason game against the New York Jets. The 2010 season marked Sorgi's first with the Giants, as he was previously the backup for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning. Sorgi was set to be the backup for Peyton's younger brother, Giants star quarterback Eli Manning. Sorgi is considered a top backup despite his lack of playing time since he joined the Colts in 2004. In that time, he has tallied 929 yards, six touchdowns, one interception and a passer rating of 89.9. The Giants now have Rhett Bomar and Dominic Randolph as backups, both of whom are unproven.

Sinorice Moss, Wide Receiver: Like Sorgi, Moss was also placed on injured reserve. He had to undergo surgery for a sports hernia. Moss was a second-round pick for the Giants in the 2006 NFL Draft. Along with stepping in as a backup wide receiver, Moss has also been a top contributor on special teams. Last season, he had one reception for 18 yards and a touchdown along with six kick returns for 109 yards and 11 punt returns for 74 yards.

Adrian Tracy, Linebacker: Tracy was selected by the Giants in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He was placed on injured reserve because of an elbow injury. He had to get surgery on the ligaments in his elbow. He suffered the injury during the Giants preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. Tracy played defensive end while in college at William & Mary, but transitioned to linebacker for the Giants.

Kevin Booth, Offensive Lineman: Booth was already on the active physically unable to perform list and he was moved to the reserve PUP list, taking him out for at least six weeks. Booth has been with the Giants since 2007 after spending his rookie season with the Oakland Raiders. He is nursing a pectoral muscle injury.

Nyan Boateng, Wide Receiver: Out of the list of players on this list, Boateng is the only one who was actually released. The Giants picked up Boateng as an undrafted free agent. He has only been under contract with the Giants since the first week of August, but he had already hauled in one reception in the preseason.
