The city has been the scene for many movies and television programs, perhaps one of the most entertaining of which is Sex and the City. Carrie Bradshaw is the main character, a writer who writes columns about life, love, and of course, sex in the city. Although the show primarily focuses on Carrie, her three friends Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte are equally important to the show's plot.

Throughout the remainder of the show the plot directly ties into this topic, eventually allowing Carrie to finish her article for the week and of course, make some kind of revelation about life. From relationships, STDs, to the role of the working woman in the 21st century, the show certainly touches many relevant and palpitating issues.
But although the show does touch on more serious issues, not even a high definition television could hide the fact that the show is more often than not, completely unrealistic. Of course, even with reality television shows, which are supposed to represent real life, the situations that occur are often staged and heavily influenced by producers. At least Sex and the City does not claim to be the absolute truth, but either way, it still manages to paint a more than perfect picture of city life and what it's like to be a woman. In fact, the show's farfetchedness is for many women the reason that they choose to watch. Not so that they can fantasize about the life they are not living, but to criticize the image that television puts forth.
Even if the show is at times difficult to believe, Sex in the City is in the very least a pleasure to watch. Plus you get to see all the beautiful sights that New York has to offer, right from the comfort of your own reclining chair.
