Well I have beeninNew Zealand for approximately 3 years now. My partner and I chose to move here from the UK after years of wanting to move abroad. We took a risk as we sold everything we had, gave up decent, well paying jobs. We had never actually been to New Zealandbefore. Well, it paid off and our lifes are so muchdifferent now. New Zealand is a truly diverse country. It is amazing how within a matter of moments you can be surrounded by amazing mountain landscapes and the next you can be overlooking a fantasticbeach.

I have travelled extensively throughout New Zealand on business and have been fortunate in this aspect, which has allowed me to see some truly astounding sights. One of my favourite driving routes is through Arthurs Pass, when driving from Christchurch through to the West coast (Tasman,Greymouth). The sights are truly remarkable.

I think that in the far north of NZ, the Bay of islands is the most majestic. Especially when you see the QE2 arrive in all her glory at Paihia.Paihia neighbours Waitangi which is where the famous treaty grounds are sited. This is where the signing of the treaty took place between maoriandeuropean settlers.

Whilst the global recession is affecting everyone. New Zealand seems to have faired slightly better than most, with plenty of jobs still available, especiallyin or around the cities. Auckland - New Zealands bigest city is basedin theNorth Island, North of Wellington - the capital city. Approximately two thirds of the country's population resides here. Other major cities in the South Island are Christchurch and Dunedin.
