New adventure park to feature log cabins

Log cabins can add to the atmosphere of gardens and visitor attractions and a planned

adventure park is to take advantage of this by including them in its grounds.

Waste land located in West Lothian is set to be transformed into a 22 million adventure park, the Edinburgh Evening News reports.

Designers have come up with an eco-friendly proposal that will include a sailing ship, a Trojan Horse slide, overhead climbing frames, 500-metre zip lines and dry toboggan runs, among other things.

In addition, proposed accommodation incorporates blueprints for 40 New England style log cabins.

If the plans are given the go ahead, people with be able to either hire or part own them.

The idea was that of entrepreneur Wayne Gardner-Young and was recently approved by West Lothian Council, which employs more than 8,000 staff members and describes itself as the biggest employer in the area.

Work is expected to begin early next year and a total of 100 jobs will be created, some of which will involve constructing the log cabins.

Meanwhile, when the centre opens in Easter 2013, it is thought around 250 full and part-time positions will become available.

Mr Gardner-Young stated: "A scheme of this undertaking will provide a welcomed boost to Scotland's economy, particularly at a time when we are facing challenging conditions across a range of industry sectors.

"Having lived in Scotland all my adult life I have witnessed the closure of many big manufacturing companies, resulting in skilled people being left out of work. This is why I am keen to extend my commitment to investing in Scotland's skills base."

According to the businessman, his park will attract visitors from all over Europe once its doors open. He added that it will be a place where families can spend time together and it will be situated in an accessible place.
