New offices may contain room dividers

Many offices these days are open plan in their layouts and so require the use of room dividers and office screens to separate specific areas.

And one construction set to be built in Shropshire may be no exception to this.

According to reports in the Shropshire Star, images of what the new Telford and Wrekin Council building will look like have been released.

The pictures are part of a report that outlines the design of the building, which is to be part of the regeneration of the Southwater area.

At present, the local authority's cabinet is considering the design.

According to the council, which is currently based in the Civic Offices at Coach Central in Telford, the new construction, potentially complete with room dividers and office screens, would be built at no cost to the tax payers.

Rather, it would be funded by the sale of the organisation's current premises to supermarket chain Asda.

It would form part of an 8,000 square-metre space for office accommodation and there would also be 500 square metres of retail space available in the mixed-use development.

Meanwhile, those behind the project say it will help the council reduce its maintenance costs and remove significant maintenance liabilities.

Commenting on the proposals, council leader Andrew Eade said: "This is another exciting stage in the regeneration of the Southwater area, which at no cost to the local taxpayer, will kickstart the wider regeneration of the town centre to make this a living heart for Telford.

"The new build will be much more cost efficient to run, using environmental technology and with reduced maintenance costs."

He went on to suggest that it is the goal of the organisation to ensure that the new offices bring together more services under one roof so that it is easier for local people to liaise with it.
