Newbie Entrepreneur Internet Marketing Advice
Social Media is a good place to start if you are a beginner Internet Entrepreneur and looking for inexpensive ways to get started
. Twitter is a free and easy way to begin to build relationships with other people that have the same interests as you. The objective is to start a relationship with people on Twitter so that they will click on your link and buy your product.
There are two schools of thought on Twitter. You can follow many, many people and then unfollow some so that your list remains balanced. The thought on this is that you never know who is interested in your product and you may just hit on someone that clicks on your link. Many people now use autoresponders to follow others and this type of follower may not be a quality follower. The automated followers tend to be spammers and self promoters. They are not real followers because they autoresponded. They are not truly targeted because they respond to everyone.
Twitter is used as a marketing tool for many and if you have lots of followers that are tweeting all day it is difficult to follow their tweets. There is no true relationship developed.
The other school of thought is that you develop a smaller number of followers that you actually have a relationship with. These are people that you interact with and have similar interests. They are more likely to click on your links because you share the same view. These are quality followers and ones that you would definitely want to keep. If you cultivate your Twitter list, it can be much more lucrative in terms of conversions than if you are appealing to the masses.
My thought: Why not do both? There are advantages to both, so why not capitalize on them? You know if you market to the masses you may gain some leads. If you have a specific list of people that you interact with on a frequent basis you can cultivate that relationship too. Cover all of your bases and maximize the benefits. You are looking for followers with influence to follow your links and to have a conversation with you. You never know exactly where they will come from.
The active user will share links and have a conversation with you. One influential follower is worth a million, so you need to cultivate those relationships. Look for tweeters that are in your niche that you can follow their followers. Being a successful internet marketer means developing a network.
People that use Twitter for marketing are trying to make money by recommending products or an affiliate product. They automatically send out links with the same messages when someone follows them back. They are looking to gear up their reputation in a specific field. Or, they are simply trying to get more traffic. The more people that visit their website the more conversions they will make.
Using Twitter effectively takes some time and paying attention to details. Focus your energy on mass marketing and target marketing to get the best results. Develop relationships with those that are interested in your product or services and have conversations. The autoresponder type follower is a different animal, but you can get results there too. Play the whole game.
