Consumers are finding difficult to choose between Nexus One and iPhone

. I talked to many colleagues and friends about their interest in switching to Nexus One phone from Blackberry or iPhone. Especially I was interested in knowing from iPhone users about their reaction to Googles announcement. The first reaction from iPhone users are rebellion approach full of doubt and pinch of fear about Nexus one taking lead. The more I quizzed them they seem to be happy with iPhone feature but not so happy with carrier service(AT&T). As I talked more to iPhone users I found they are more interested in knowing finer details of Nexus One phone such as how sleek is Nexus one, weight and phone features etc. Actually if you look at iPhone users profile they are trendier like to go for latest gizmos and love to be first one to adopt technology. Of course smart phone users are people who want more then talking on phone. Even after these questions users are debating should they give up on iPhone? If at all people want to switch from iPhone to Googles Nexus One phone it will be due to carrier service, software independence or unlocked feature. Consumers are frustrated with tough terms and conditions with current carrier AT&T and no freedom to choose alternate carrier. Lot of consumers are thinking maybe time has come for healthy competition in smart phone space with economical deals for consumers. Both of these phones attract consumers for different reasons, for some look and feel is the main thing. For some cool features of Nexus/iPhone phones are important. Most of the heavy duty users will like to evaluate both phones based on their interface to applications, browser and how desktop applications can be ported and used on these phones. Of course Games, music, videos and social web experience plays important part. Nexus one may score points over iPhone in freedom to choose software for running application. The current iPhone models work well with their set of applications and when it comes to interfacing with other software not backed by manufacturer it requires certain workaround. I believe as more consumer add to smart phone space it will put pressure on Google and Apple to make phone independent of proprietary software dependence. Googles Nexus One phone is designed to lure active laptop users to new smart phone space. Google is interested in building new high caliber Nexus One community. I I guess if you are not active user on smart phone and your interaction with phone is to just do the communication part then it does not matter what phone you choose iPhone or Nexus One. The choice is only for those active users who explore the software and are more tuned to open community and coupled with less economical service plan may be deciding factor to shift from iPhone to Nexus One. This is just the healthy beginning of competition soon we will get more software updates from both phone manufactures. If you planning to buy smart phone then iPhone and Nexus one is definitely good choice to make. Switching to Nexus One from iPhone may be difficult but being first time buyer for smart phone then Googles Nexus one will be right choice to make.
