Nfl Tickets- 2012 Season Outlook For The Denver Broncos
It has been a busy off-season, and while many trades and free agent signing have
been the subject of speculation, debate and downright horror, it is the two involving the Denver Broncos that have garnered the most attention. Of course, for added drama, both of the transactions involved the number one offensive position, quarterback. For the Broncos and stadiums they visit, it could mean the highest sale of NFL tickets in the AFL West, and possibly increased sales of New York Jets tickets as fans wish to see a new quarterback attempt to lead the Jets back to the Super Bowl. As always, though, anything can happen in an NFL season.
So the big question is this: Are the Denver Broncos smarter than every other team in the NFL?
In 2011, the Denver Broncos made it to the AFC Title Game. They lost, of course, to a superior New England Patriots team. But how many teams that get as far as they did trade the Quarterback that got them there? According to NFL records, none. The Denver Broncos decided to not only jettison the quarterback that made the playoffs and title game a reality, John Elway and company elected to sign a quarterback who has not thrown an official pass in almost 18 months.
But when your last name is Manning, anything is possible.
Peyton Manning has won one Super Bowl. He has numerous MVP honors and many consider him a first ballot Hall-of-famer. There is no argument he cannot put up numbers. There is also no argument he has had three neck surgeries in the last two years.
So the Broncos give up on a Heisman Trophy winner who led the team to five late-game wins and into the title game for a 36-year old guy who has a bad neck, an overbearing father and a habit of changing plays. In Indianapolis, this may be okay, but in the Mile-High City (maybe a step below Dallas in fervor), the first errant pass or bad sack may have fans praying for rookie Ryan Lindley.
John Elway; however, has a history of being a successful gunslinger. The signing of Peyton Manning, in what many consider a very weak AFC West division, is just the move one would expect. The San Diego Chargers are a team that is always a pre-season favorite, but can't finish. The Oakland Raiders are a team going through very emotional ownership issues due to the passing of the iconic Al Davis. The Chiefs, despite a talented roster, just can't seem to find a rudder for a very talented group.
So the Denver Broncos appear to be rolling the dice and guessing it plays out in their favor. Coach John Fox has already won the big game with Carolina. From all reports, he is willing to adapt his playbook to Peyton. Together, if they can stay in sync, everything points to a Divisional Championship and Super Bowl appearance.
The question revolves around the health of Peyton Manning. The Broncos are again a one-man team. And from there, it's anybody's game. But just like in the past with Elway, Manning makes the one-man team more palatable.
