Nfl Tickets - A Look At League Backups In The Quarterback Position

After Week 1 of the NFL's regular season, a trend has emerged with injured quarterbacks

. The lead signal-callers for several teams' offenses were hit hard during Week 1 action, warranting questions concerning their comeback statuses in Week 2 and beyond and shedding light on the all-too important understudy position of the backup quarterback. Here are some backups who could soon see action on the football field.

Seneca Wallace, Cleveland Browns. The Browns started the 2010-11 NFL season under the lead of head quarterback Jake Delhomme, but after coming off a disappointing season with the Panthers where he finished the season on the sidelines after suffering a broken finger, Delhomme might be missing from action again this season. The quarterback hurt his ankle in the first half of the Browns-Bucs season opener, leaving former Seahawks quarterback Seneca Wallace as the Browns' go-to guy. Delhomme looks like he will start in Week 2, but Wallace is anticipating a start if not. Wallace has 14 career starts to his name with Seattle, and he'll certainly be ready to go in for Delhomme as a decent replacement if need be.

Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles. Several players suffered concussions in Week 1 action, and the Eagles' starting QB Kevin Kolb was one of them. Kolb's recovery process went slower than expected, leaving him out for the week following the Eagles' season opener against the Packers. Should Kolb need extra time to come off the concussion, backup Michael Vick will see ample playtime. This isn't really a worry for the Eagles, as Vick was a solid stand-in in Week 1, and the former Atlanta Falcons superstar is even favored by some to take over the reins for the Philadelphia team. Michael Vick might even be a name that soon sells NFL tickets again - who knows.

Jimmy Clausen, Carolina Panthers. In all probability, Carolina's starting quarterback Matt Moore will return for Week 2 after suffering a concussion during Week 1 of the regular season, but in the case that he doesn't, rookie Jimmy Clausen will be ready to go in as starting QB. Clausen is itching for an NFL debut as the team's starter and, while inexperienced, the former Notre Dame standout can be groomed into a franchise player. For now, though, expect him to remain the No. 2 guy in Carolina.

Shaun Hill, Detroit Lions. Matthew Stafford's shoulder injury is bad news for Lions fans. After hurting his shoulder in the team's season opener against the Chicago Bears when he was sacked by the beastly Julius Peppers, Stafford took a seat and let former 49ers QB Shaun Hill take over. Hill was proclaimed the Lions' Week 2 starter while Stafford continues recuperating from a shoulder sprain in his throwing arm, and this could be the start of a developing story in Detroit. Hill, currently in his ninth season in the NFL, was a part-time starter for the 49ers until he lost the job to Alex Smith last season, and he might just be able to snatch the starting job in Detroit if Stafford's injury is serious.
