Nfl Tickets - Teams Add Players To Fill Gaps

Injuries and other problems force every team to keep their roster fluid and open to change

. Following Week Five play, many teams are finding this out first-hand as they are seeking out new additions to their rosters to counteract the effect of injuries on their teams. Some additions will be temporary, as they are replacing players who are only out for a matter of weeks. Others, though, could find an opportunity to stay long-term. Fans can catch their favorite players live by getting NFL tickets online.

Matt Stover, Indianapolis Colts: The Colts officially lost kicker Adam Vinatieri for four to eight weeks because of an injury to his left knee that required surgery. They signed Matt Stover to play in his place, waiving starting defensive tackle Ed Johnson to make room on the roster. Stover is in his 19th season in the NFL. He started out his career when he was drafted by the New York Giants in 1990, although he didn't see any playing time in New York. The next season, he went to the Cleveland Browns and was their kicker through the 1995 season. From 1996 until last season, he was the kicker for the Baltimore Ravens. During his career, he has an 83.7 percent completion rate for field goals, a 99.5 percent completion rate for extra points and his longest field goal is 55 yards.

Junior Seau, New England Patriots: After weeks of speculation, the Patriots did what was expected and signed veteran linebacker Junior Seau to a one-year contract. The 40-year-old linebacker is in his 20th season in the NFL, but he is still considered one of the most impressive talents at his position. Seau has retired and unretired before, as his first stint with the Patriots came just days after he first retired. He didn't officially "retire" this time, keeping the door open to his return. He played the bulk of his career with the San Diego Chargers (from 1990 to 2002). He also spent three seasons with the Miami Dolphins before coming to the Patriots in 2006.

Chris Draft and Todd Johnson, Buffalo Bills: The Bills aimed to strengthen their depleted defensive unit by signing linebacker Chris Draft and safety Todd Johnson. After Week Five, the Bills lost linebackers Kawika Mitchell and Marcus Buggs for the season because of injuries. Safeties Bryan Scott and Donte Whitner have also been out because of injuries, but are expected to return. Draft is in his 12th season in the NFL. He spent one season each with the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers at the beginning of his career before settling in with the Atlanta Falcons from 2000 to 2004. After that, he spent two seasons each with the Carolina Panthers and the St. Louis Rams. Last season, he tallied 38 tackles and one pass defended. Johnson has been in the league since 2003. He was with the Bears for his first four seasons. He and Draft were teammates for the last two seasons with the Rams. In 2008, Johnson tallied 24 tackles and one forced fumble.

David Tyree, Baltimore Ravens: David Tyree became a well-known name in the NFL during Super Bowl XLII when he hauled in a 32-yard pass on a third-down attempt late in the game. That catch led to the touchdown that gave the New York Giants the win. He struggled with injuries last season and during this year's preseason, causing the Giants to cut him. He has been with the Giants since 2003, but he was never a consistent starter. To make room on the roster, the Ravens waived tight end Tony Curtis.

Ra'Shon Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers: Following Week Five play, the Giants lost defensive end Aaron Smith for the rest of the season because of a shoulder injury. He is likely to be replaced by those already on the roster, but the Steelers also brought back Ra'Shon Harris to add depth. Ra'Shon was the team's sixth-round draft pick, but they cut him in September.
