Niche Marketing - Why Making Small Amounts From Lots Of Sources Makes Sense

If you're looking at the internet as a possible money making opportunity

, you really should consider getting started with niche marketing. Why? Well because it is a great way for beginners to get started.

You don't have to invest a lot of money initially, and as you expand your number of sites, you can use the earnings from your other sites to fund your growth. The downside to niche marketing is that it won't make you rich overnight, and it will take quite a lot of effort, at least initially.

Before we go any further let's cover exactly what niche marketing is, or at least what my interpretation is. It's about publishing lots of small sites or blogs around very focussed topics. For example, you might publish a blog or web site on the subject of weight loss for mums who work. It's a pretty targeted subject, as opposed to say a site about general weight loss and dieting. Instead it specifically targets the weight loss needs of a particular subset of the population, working mums.

When you target specific needs and specific groups of people with your marketing, you have a much better chance of making money. If you can find a product or service that meets their needs, your chances of making money are much better. Online it is also easier to get visitors to your site for search terms that are less competitive, and in basic terms less competitive search terms are the phrases that include say four to six words. Generally, the fewer words a search phrase, known as a keyword phrase contains, the harder it will be to attract search engine traffic from it. The downside to less competitive keyword phrases is that whilst you have a better chance of ranking well in the search engines for them, they will generate less visitors.

But even though they generate fewer searches and visitors, the visitors you do get will be very targeted to the products and adverts you promote on your site, so you will make more money per visitor than you would from a competitive keyword phrase.

In summary, niche marketing is about building small sites based around niche keywords that are not too competitive. You target a small group of people and their specific needs and provide them with products and information that they are searching for. You then do the same for another group, and then another and another. You build lots of small sites.

The beauty is that you don't have to be an expert on the niche subject you choose. You can easily and quickly find articles on the internet about any subject, then simply rewrite them in your own words. Once you have written your content, you can use it to get your site ranking in the search engines and then promote other people's products in return for a referral commission. It is a lot easier to make a dollar a day from hundred sites than it is to make one hundred dollars a day from one site. And by creating lots of sites across a range of niche markets, you are diversifying your risk as well, I'm sure you've heard the saying don't put all of your eggs in one basket.
