They're characterized by delicate, sun-reflecting beading, smooth ankle-length A-lines, and pretty, colorful sashes. There's not a sand-catching train in sight. Meanwhile, a debate among brides and moms alike still rages: strapless or not strapless? If Star Jones can go bare-armed pre-weight loss, can the rest of us? "Strapless is very difficult to wear... if you have any kind of bust, any kind of flesh on your upper body," says Alvarez. "Many brides feel they can't wear [strapless]," says Tricia Burkholder, owner of Country Bride at Gwynedd and in Bensalem. She estimates that, of the thousand bridal gowns she sells each year, 80 percent are strapless. Albert, too, says most of her sales are strapless gowns. It's the trend that won't die. "Most women aren't perfect and don't feel like they have to be perfect. Women in their 40s and 50s look better now then they did in their 20s," argues Alvarez. So why not strapless? But modesty does have its benefits, especially if the ceremony is in a place of worship. It's time to put the brakes on too much skin and slink. "You should think long and hard about wearing a super-sexy zentai. You'll be looking back on it later with your kids," warns Sterne. The biggest trend, experts agree, is that brides are exercising their individuality in costume zentai choice. There are no steadfast rules - not in color, style, number, or level of sex appeal.
