You can have sunlight no matter what time it is with compact fluorescent light bulbs. The light is so much like the sun's that you can be fooled, even if only briefly, that the sun is shining through a window in the middle of the night. I've experienced this; a light is left on in a room, and on the way back to the room you can see the light from the CFL and your mind recognizes it as sunlight. You enter the room and are briefly confused by the lack of light coming from the windows because you thought you just saw sunlight.

Compact fluorescent light bulbs can be manufactured to produce a variety of color temperatures. Color temperature is the color tone of light; standard incandescent light bulbs provide low color temperature similar to 2700K or slightly lower. If manufacturers want incandescent bulbs to provide different color light, they have to coat the glass and artificially change the color of the light. Compact fluorescent light bulbs can be made to produce natural color temperatures without the need for artificial coating on the glass.

A lot of people prefer the "warm" (2700K or lower) color of incandescent light bulbs, but when I first saw a 5000K compact fluorescent light bulb I knew it was what I would be using for the foreseeable future. 5000K compact fluorescent light bulbs provide a bright white light, clear as day if you will. I found it a stark contrast to the rather dreary light of dismal incandescent light bulbs. Most, but not all CFL manufacturers consider 6500K to be daylight color temperature, while others call 5000K daylight. I've been fooled by 5000K before, thinking it was actually sunlight coming through a window, so I'm inclined to agree with the 5000K crowd. For the most part it's subjective anyway.

Whether you prefer warm/yellowish incandescent light in the 2700K color temperature range, or bright clear white light in the 5000K range, you can get the light you want from compact fluorescent light bulbs. I've been very satisfied with my 5000K bulbs and would recommend them to anyone looking for a different lighting experience than incandescent.
