Nightlife And Boutique Hotels In Beijing
If you aren't into museums, heritage listed areas and wandering around natural wonders at home
, chances are that doing these things on holiday is just not going to excite you! While China is definitely a culture-lover's paradise, it is also growing into a new reputation as one of Asia's party capitals. Here we check out the best of shopping and nightlife in China's capital, as well as the most exclusive Beijing luxury hotels and stylish accommodation in Beijing to come back to at the end of it.
Nightlife is clustered around a couple of entertainment districts - Sanlitun is the older and better known (and also the home of Hotel G, one of our favourite Beijing hotels ever!). However the Hou Hai bar district, situated around a manmade lake at the north of Beihai Park, is taking over and has some fabulous Asian-style discos and ultra-luxury bars. Check out Scarlett Wine Bar, Boys and Girls, Poachers, The Tree and Public Space to start off with ... all Sanlitun veterans and all-time favourites. LAN, Partyworld (authentic Chinese karaoke!) and Suzie Wong in Chaoyang district are also highly recommended.
If you want to party in Beijing, you won't want to be paying massive cab fares home every night. Staying in the Sanlitun entertainment district is a great choice, especially because it is home to Hotel G, which has been the number one exclusive Beijing luxury hotel on Tripadvisor for almost 12 months straight.
The consistent fantastic reviews come from the unique design and fabulous service at this Beijing hotel. Coming back to Hotel G from a nightclub is like simply extending your party - except in an exclusive, private lounge where the beautiful people hang out, rather than a noisy bar!
Rooms at Hotel G are designed by Mark Lintott and feature stunning coloring (including windows that you can choose the color of), massive works of art and postmodern furniture as well as little party-style extras like iPods and docking stations in the Beijing hotel room, Nintendo Wiis available on request and rainforest shower cubicle.
When you're feeling too 'dizzy' to figure something out, the staff at this exclusive Beijing boutique hotel are some of the most accommodating in a city not always known for forthcoming service. The friendly, welcoming attitude really completes your mission to feel good in Beijing!
Explore a bit further away from Chaoyang district and you'll find little Beijing hotel gems like the Happy Dragon Hostel, offering accommodation in Beijing with ultra-friendly staff and an atmosphere that once again simply continues the party! You can get private rooms with ensuites here (much like an ordinary Beijing hotel!) for about US$22, and there are plenty of cheap and cheerful cafes and little restaurants around. They do in-house tours and also game nights.
For a nice middling choice, a secure base for leaving your things to party but nothing too fancy, try the Holiday Inn Central Plaza Beijing hotel. You'll find plenty of families with kids staying here, but if you're planning to be taking in the nightlife and sleeping during the day, it's a fantastic choice.
