Night's Sleep: What To Eat And What Not To Eat Before Bed
Achieving or getting good night's sleep is very easy to do
. Anybody could get it if they are actually aware of few important things. A good sleep is very important in everybody's life. The human body is designated to start sleeping when the moon rise up and wake up when the sun is shining. If anybody do not sleep when there is darkness, then the brain is getting confused. Therefore it is very important to make sure that one retires to bed before midnight. This would actually let the body system to sleep more efficiently. Another important thing to keep in mind to get good sleep is the eating process, what to eat and what not to eat and when to eat. Try not to eat after 8 p.m. The digestive system is yet active for a few more hours while sleeping or resting in the night.
There are certain foods that could help having a good sleep like carbohydrate rich foods, calcium rich foods, Vitamin A and herbs. Carbohydrates are important for good sleep. Foods that are rich in carbohydrates are potatoes, brown rice, whole grain bread and whole wheat pasta. These foods that are in rich carbohydrates act as normal sleep aids by increasing the production of serotonin, the brain chemical that help ease stress and helps sleep.
Calcium rich foods are also the prime factor for good sleep; calcium aids the brain to use tryptophan and produce melatonin. This is the main cause why dairy products that contain both calcium and tryptophan are considered as one of the sleep inducing foods. Foods that are rich in calcium are cheese, milk, ice-creams, yogurt, salmon, sardines, tofu and egg. Vitamin B and Vitamin B6, folic acid and thiamin might help sleep better since they produce amino acids along with tryptophan, which is very essential to manufacture serotonin. Foods rich in Vitamin B include meat, brown rice, wheat germ, soya beans, butter and fish. Herbs are also good and help to get good sleep. A few herbs like passionflower, valerian, rosemary chamomile and lavender really help in keeping one relaxed.
Likewise, there are certain things to be avoided before going to bed, the very important things that should be avoided are caffeine, alcohol, heavy and spicy foods. A few foods that have tyramine could also affect sleep. Therefore with little care taken before going to bed, you could help to get yourself a good sleep all through the night.
