The Ninomaru Palace displays the Momoyama architectural pattern in its buildings. The majestic Honmaru Palace was largely destroyed by a fire in the 18th century. A part of the Imperial Palace was relocated to the Nijo Castle in 1893 in replacement of the destroyed section of the Honmaru Palace.
