Nissan plans to make this facility a global export hub. The alliance has already invested Rs 2,900 Crore in the 64-acre facility. The Chennai, India facility was inaugurated in March 2010 and the new car in India, Nissan Micra will be produced there.

Bookings for the small car are already open, the car is being displayed in showrooms, the production has begun and the car will be on the Indian roads in July. The made-in-India car will be exported to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The car has been specially designed keeping the Indian consumers needs in mind, but will be exported to over 100 countries. That is what Nissan Motors plans as of now. It has been designed on the new V platform or the new versatile platform.

Nissan Motors also sells the 370Z, the Teana and the Nissan X-Trail in India.
