No More Leaflet Distribution Until The Postal Strike Ends
With the Royal Mail on strike a lot of companies are looking around for other alternative
to ship their items, it seems that the only thing that is getting delivered at the moment is the slow and steady pace of leaflet distribution from the striking staff to the people who pass by.
Businesses are frustrated that none of their mail is getting through and they are even more frustrated with the fact that certain important items which are time sensitive are starting to miss their deadlines. Because of this there are a number of other companies that are benefitting from the strike. DHL, parcel force and city link have all seen an increase in traffic, while Royal Mail desperately tries to get essential mail out.
Another sector that is worrying about the strikes is charities, which utilise the royal mail service to send out a lot of information in the form of leaflet distribution. Pamphlets and flyers are sent out through the post asking for people to send spare change in through the postal system, but obviously with the strike the leaflet distribution system has come to a standstill and a percentage of the money has stopped flowing into the charity's.
Some local councils have had to employ specialist employees to fulfil essential delivery services, around this time of year most councils organise some form of leaflet distribution to the local community urging them to take heed of important safety advice over fireworks night.
Fireworks night is one of the most dangerous nights on the calendar with more burns and accidents happening on this night than the rest of the year put together. Every year the local councils come together to try to pre-warn the general public about the dangers of sparklers and fireworks and despite this every year the countries accident and emergency rooms are over run with injured children and adults who have failed to obey the safety guidelines.
It is feared with the postal strike and the lack of leaflet distribution that the number of injuries suffered this November will be significantly more than normal, which will put an extra strain on the NHS at a time when it really doesn't need it.
The postal strike still seems to be a long way off being resolved with neither party willing to budge on their wage demands. Until things are solved we will all have to wait that bit long for our mail, parcels and packages.
