Noise Reduction Stereo Headphones - Their Advantages Over Other Types Of Headphones
If you are like me, I bet that you love listening to music. However
, there are many times when you cannot listen to your favorite jazz or classical CD artists through your expensive home stereo system, (with 6 surround sound speakers) in the living room. Other family members may be watching a television program, or reading the latest best-selling book novel. As many busy families have multiple activities going on at once, this would be the best time for you to have your own noise reduction stereo headphones.
There are 3 types of stereo headphones. The first type is the closed-ear headphones, (otherwise known as circumaural headphones).By the obvious name, closed-ear headphones completely surround the individuals ears. The second type would be the supraural headphones. This type of headphones has the frames which fit snugly around the outer ears.A small speaker attached to this type of headphones then rests up against the individuals ears. The last type of headphones, (intraural) is otherwise known as earbuds. This type of headphone fits snugly inside the individuals ear canal.
Taking the 3rd type of stereo headphones, (earbuds) there may be occasions in which these speaker listening devices present a distinct advantage over the others. If your favorite audio device in which you listen to your favorite tunes is on an I-pod, mp3 player, or I-phone, then the earbuds would be preferential. An I-pod, being lightweight in size, is small enough to fit into the palm of ones hand.An individual would naturally want a small type of headphone to match the lightness of the I-pod.
Today as we are well into the 21st century, the quality of sound coming from the tiny stereo earbuds is truly amazing.Even compared to what was available 10 years ago, there has been a distinct improvement with the earbuds.I used to own these types of headphones that used to come, (free of course) with the portable CD Walkmans that I purchased back in 1999/2000.A decade ago, listening with these earbuds to a Brahms Symphony on my Walkman, I simply chose to put these little devices away permanently. The quality in sound then, as provided by those earbuds, was a joke.Since then, things have improved drastically with advancements in technology.
Still, today there are disadvantages with both the earbuds and supraural, (around the ear frame) headphones. Despite the quality in sound available in these types of stereo headphones, they are still unable to block out many ambient sounds around the individual.Good luck listening to a selection from the newly released Beatles Past Masters albums if you are standing next to a work construction zone waiting for a commuter bus, wearing earbuds. In addition to the Beatles singing Let it Be, youre also going to hear a lot of noise coming from jackhammers, bulldozers, and other mechanical devices in that scenario.
Noise reduction stereo headphones have a distinct advantage over the other types of stereo headphones. The first advantage is obvious; these types of headphones completely surround both ears, (closed-ear/circumaural). Noise reduction stereo headphones are specifically designed to reduce ambient sound coming from the individuals immediate listening area. These types of stereo headphones are much more expensive than the earbuds or around-the-ear headphones. But, if you are seeking both quality in your music listening experience, and outside noise reduction, then these are the types of headphones that I would recommend.
If you are a business traveler, or individual who goes on many vacations traveling by jet, there is yet another reason why noise reduction stereo headphones would be highly preferential to the other types. Inside the cabin of a jumbo jet, (Boeing 747, 767, or 777s) you are still confined to a small space. There is a lot of ambient noise on these aircraft if you consider the sounds coming from the turbine engines, (four on a Boeing 747), the hum from the air conditioning unit, and other passengers in conversation all around you.If, flying in a jet at 35,000 ft. you want to listen to your favorite jazz artist using anything but noise reduction, (closed-ear stereo headphones), you are seriously kidding yourself. With earbuds attached to your I-pod or Walkman, even putting the device on full volume would block out very little ambient sounds.Besides that fact, playing music on full volume will eventually result in long-term damage to your hearing.Could you imagine if you were assigned a window seat right next to the engines on a 6 hour, cross-country flight?Good luck enjoying your music listening experience with those earbuds as your headphones of choice.
