Most hospital restrict the hours of time for visitors for a reason

. According to a study, hospital ward which tend to be noisy like a busy office can impede the healing process of patients.

The study was presented in The British Thoracic Society (BTS) Winter Annual Meeting. It is said that the noise level can affect patients' health. It affects the quality of sleeping and recovery time. The study was conducted by Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton to find the noise level and the healing process of patients. It is found that noise levels in each hospital ward exceeded the guidelines from World Health Organization (WHO) that is more than 25 decibels (dB).

WHO says that the noise level in a hospital ward should be around the same level as the voice whisper in a library. However, the results showed precisely that the noise level approached the sound of a busy office. In the study, researchers measured the noise level in each hospital ward. They found some of the most annoying noise sources originating from mobile phones and the conversations made by visitors.

Furthermore, the researchers conducted a number of changes such as by telling the hospital staffs and visitors not to cause noise, shut the door at the night, limit the visiting hours and reduce the volume of the alarm. As the result, the patients are reported to be able to sleep better.

The leader of the research said that all hospitals must do the things that can reduce noise in each hospital ward. It is helpful to improve the patients experience by making them sleep better. By having good sleep, patients could recover faster and better. Finally, since noise influences that healing process, you have to keep the silence in the hospital when you visit a person so that he can recover soon.
