Nokia N8: The Better Choice

Nokia has been in the mobile industry for a long period of time now

. Indeed this Finnish company is considered to be one of the best mobile manufacturers in the world. However, as many may notice, Nokia seems to be a little bit, if not even quite far behind in the Smartphone scene.

It is no doubt that the iPhone and the BlackBerry are dominating the Smartphone industry and competitors like HTC and LG are not far behind as well. Nokia have high hopes of bridging the gap with the Nokia N8. It is said to offer several features strong enough to contend with other popular Smarpthones in the business. Lets see why.

The Look

Let us admit that the biggest factor a consumer takes into consideration before purchasing a mobile is its physical look and design. It is actually fair to say that the iPhone gained instant success because of its introduction of the ground-breaking large touch screen display back in the year 2007.

It practically started the touch screen trend and until now, it is still one of most appreciated features a mobile can offer. On other hand, we also have to give credit to Nokia for giving us well designed mobiles with functionality at its best.

To be straight forward, the design of the Nokia N8 is undeniably beautiful. Though the design of the iPhone is gorgeous as well, some might have grown tired of its all too familiar look. The good thing about the N8 is that aside from its humungous 3.7 inch display, it is available in several colour schemes as well. It comes in Orange, Blue, Dark Grey, Green and Silver. With those colour schemes to choose from there is simply no chance you can ever get bored.

The size of the N8, though not the smallest, is considerably compact as well. It measures 113.5 x 59.1 x 12.9 mm and only weighs 135g.

Snapper Power

A number of people cannot argue that the highlight feature of the Nokia N8 is the camera. It comes with a built in snapper of 12 mega pixels. Though the N8 may not be the first mobile to offer such powerful camera ( it was previously offered by Samsung Pixon 12 ), at the end of the day, the fact still remains that the snapper is certainly amazing.

Photos taken from this camera has a resolution of 4000 x 3000 pixels. You can just imagine how clear the photos are. It also boasts top of the line features such as Carl Zeiss optics, ND Filter and a Xenon flash. If lighting is an issue, the Xenon flash does its job of lighting up the place. And sure enough, functions such as smile and face detection, geo-tagging and autofocus are present to enhance picture quality.

Final Say

Competition in the Smartphone market is really tough. If Nokia wants to make it to the top, then they have to be sure that they would be able to provide remarkable mobiles consistently. Not to mention that the dominance of iPhone may be a bit hard to conquer.

However the Nokia N8 deserves a second look. With the features it offers, we can definitely say that Nokia is not giving up the fight that easily. For the meantime we can just wait until the consumers decide if the N8 is enough to bring Nokia to the top of the Smartphone market.
