Nokia Unveils the New N8 Handset

Nokia look set to take the ultra competitive smartphone market by storm with the introduction of their impressive new handset, the N8

. The Nokia N8 looks set to appeal to both consumers who are influenced by design as well as specification.

The N8 is certainly an impressive looking phone, and a range of colour options give the handset appeal to a younger market. The screen on the phone is a very good quality display, benefiting from the excellent OMLED that it incorporates. The screens measurement of 3.5 inches is adequate enough, and both images and text appear crystal clear. A contributing factor to the excellent display is its ability to display over 16 million colours along with the high quality 360 x 640 resolution. Being a capacitive touchscreen, responsiveness is very good, and the display also wins points for its support of the useful multi touch system. Ignoring the screen for a seconds, the rest of the handset is a fairly simple affair with just a single "home" button accompanying the screen on the front of the chassis.

On the rear of the handset is where you will find the Nokia N8's superb quality still camera. A very high resolution of 12 mega pixels can be captured by the camera, putting the phone up there with the highest specification handsets currently available. Not content with the superb resolution, Nokia have also fitted Carl Zeiss optics to the phone, meaning shots take on a depth of colour never before seen on a mobile handset. In keeping with the high quality of the still camera, the video capture also impresses thanks to its High Definition capture. A handy HDMI socket allows for easy connection to your home television. Audio playback is well supported on the phone thanks to a variety of audio formats being supported as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack being present in addition to a handy RDS FM radio, allowing the user to listen to local or national stations should they tire of their own files. Nokia seem to have well and truly broken away from their tradition of being a mid range manufacturer with this high end, high quality model. A wealth of multi media features coupled with a super fast processor make the N8 a true rival to the more well known smartphones currently available.
