Normal Glucose Levels For Good Health

To be in good shape and in good health at all times requires a healthy diet. A healthy diet is composed of fruits, vegetables and lean meat. Eating more protein and high fiber vegetables and less sugar- filled foods will make you feel good and light for a long time. Most people look forward to holidays because of the abundance of desserts and other delicious and mouth watering holiday treats. These kinds of food should be eaten in moderation and hopefully should not be part of your regular diet.

A healthy diet goes together with a normal glucose level meaning if a person eats a healthy diet normal blood glucose levels are expected. The amount of food eaten determines the amount of glucose circulating in our blood stream. Glucose is essential to the body and to our system. It is used as a fuel by the muscles and cells to keep them functioning normally. It is dangerous only when too much of it is present in our blood stream. This happens when we over indulge in sweets like desserts and sugar-filled foods or have other health issues. This gives our body a hard time in regulating blood sugar and could lead to chronic high blood sugar and eventually diabetes. Diabetes could also lead to other complications and health issues.

Some carbohydrates that we eat turn directly to glucose when digested and then that glucose is absorbed directly into our blood stream. The more carbohydrates we eat the higher the amount of glucose to be absorbed. Insulin is secreted to move the glucose to the cells for fuel and as soon as the cells have enough glucose to use for fuel, the rest will be stored as fat and to be burned at a later time. With the kind of lifestyle we have most likely the time to burn the extra glucose will never come thus the stored fat stays there and increases as time passes by. Foods rich in protein and fiber help in lowering the amount of glucose that enters the blood stream and thus less insulin is needed to move the glucose out. So a better diet is more fiber and protein that means lower glucose levels or probably just the right amount to keep your body functioning properly.
