Not Even A 3.6 Earthquake Can Shake A Magnetic Car Sign

Magnetic Signs Are A Secure Way To Advertise

I was refilling my cup of coffee this morning when I lost my balance and felt a shock of surprise. My husband and I heard a loud "Boom!" followed by a shaking kitchen floor. We ran to see if a tree had fallen or if a car had crashed into our yard. I feared a gas line had exploded. Thankfully, none of those scenarios was the case. Instead, the phone started ringing, and neighbors informed us that we had experienced a 3.6 earthquake.

Here in the Charleston, S.C. area, we live and work on the country's second biggest fault line, so minor earthquakes are old news for longtime residents. We are also vulnerable to a host of other extreme environmental situations: floods, tornadoes, tropical storms, and hurricanes. Most home and business owners have insurance to cover losses and damages due to unfortunate events such as these. But does anyone have advertising insurance? You can actually purchase it quite affordably - invest in a magnetic car sign!

It is not uncommon for schools here to shut down at least once a year for a major tropical event. Usually, we just experience high winds and rains, but it is often enough to knock down business signs or at least damage them. Magnetic car signs are small enough and yet visible enough to send your message to the public every time you get into your car, and their size and magnetism prevents them from being ripped or swept off of your car.

Now I'm not saying that a magnetic sign is the only way for you to advertise. Good business signage is essential to the image of all types of businesses. But even if you are not in an extreme weather prone area, magnetic signs are an easy and economical way of adding more name recognition to your business. And in the event of an earthquake? No problem - your magnetic car sign is still there!

Even If Magnetic Car Signs Don't Suffer Damage, Can They Cause It?

Many people who are interested in using magnetic signs for additional advertising are wary of potential damage the magnet might leave on their vehicle. This is understandable. I can often spot traces of rectangular rust stains on car doors and know that someone unfortunately had purchased a cheap magnetic car sign.

There is damage insurance for magnetic signs, however! Just use a high quality sign shop that uses ScratchGuard for their magnetic car signs. ScratchGuard magnetic signs are so simple and available that it's a wonder not every sign shop uses them, but not all do. When a ScratchGuard magnetic car sign is removed from the car, no trace of the sign remains, so using only ScratchGuard seems like a no-brainer.

ScratchGuard is simply a protective film that covers the magnet and protects the surface to which to it is applied from scratching and rust stains. So simple! Magnetic signs bonded with ScratchGuard are a little more expensive than the cheaper magnetic signs, but they are in such high demand that the cost is offset by the number of orders, meaning there is little to no rise in cost to the customer. And isn't your paint job worth it, anyway?

Is There Anything That Can Shake My Magnetic Sign?

Magnetic signs are a safe bet once applied to your car. In fact, they have been given a shelf life of 3-5 years, which is amazing for something that takes as much wear and tear as your car does. There are some circumstances that prohibit your magnetic car sign from sticking the way it should, though, and knowing about these can prevent you from investing in advertising that may not work on your car.

First of all, though car doors have metal exteriors, it may surprise you to learn that not all of them contain metal inside. Sometimes plastic is used to fill a car door, particularly in cars that have had recent body work. There are even makes of cars that fill the inside of a car door with plastic rather than metal, so test your car door with an ordinary refrigerator magnet before deciding on a magnetic car sign.

Secondly, magnetic signs must be placed on smooth, flat surfaces that are void of bumps or trim work. Otherwise, the security of the magnetic sign is compromised. All of the surface of the magnetic sign must be applied to metal in order to guarantee that the sign will stick.

If you follow these simple steps, then your magnetic car sign is sure to stay exactly where you put it.

So Let The Earth Try To Rattle Your Magnetic Sign!

On the other hand, I think we would all prefer it if natural events would remain calm and quiet. But should your magnetic car sign experience a 3.6 earthquake or worse, at least you know that one of your investments is safe!
