Not Everyone Can Have Liposuction Done; Learn Who Qualifies And Who Doesn't

Although liposuction is popular and relatively common

, not everyone can qualify to have the surgery done. It is safer and more effective for some people than it is for others. Factors such as current medical condition and medical history can influence whether or not a person is a good candidate for this fat-removal procedure. Read on to learn who qualifies and who doesn't.

Liposuction is a non-invasive surgery in which fat is suctioned out of the body through a tube called a cannula. It is inserted into tiny incisions made in a specific isolated area of the body. Sometimes two areas can be targeted at the same time, but it is not very safe to remove fat from more than two areas at one time. The amount of fat that can be removed is very small, totaling about eight pounds at the most.

Liposuction has become quite popular, rivaled in the cosmetic surgery community only by breast implantation. It has become a household word, and more and more people are thinking that it might be just the thing they want. Unfortunately, it isn't the thing for everyone. Some people don't qualify to have it done.

As a general rule, those who do qualify are very healthy people. They are within a healthy weight range, which means that they are thin and do not have excess amounts of fat on their bodies. They are people who want to have the fat removed so that they can look good, not to make their bodies healthier.

On the other hand, a lot of things can disqualify a person from being able to have liposuction. Generally, people who are overweight or obese are rejected by liposuction surgeons. They have too much fat to be removed and excess fat is usually accompanied by some characteristic health problems such as diabetes and hypertension. People who have serious health conditions of almost any kind are usually not able to have liposuction done.

Other reasons that people may not be able to have liposuction done include some less serious ones. People without great skin elastic are not great candidates for liposuction because their skin is unable to firm up around the affected area. Skin elasticity is often linked to age, and so younger people are better candidates for the surgery than are older people.

As long as a person has good credit, money need not be a major issue that stops people from being able to have liposuction done. For those who don't have a lot of money on hand, loan programs are available to make the surgery available to a wider economic range of people.

Anyone seriously considering liposuction should learn about these qualifying factors first.
