I know all about not having the best backup sump pump, from being caught up in situations that have left me cursing for days! If you hate tedious and unnesessary work then getting your self a reliable backup sump pump could save you plenty! Because you just never know when you would have an occasion that you need it.

Let me share with you the worst experience I have had with not having a good contingency in case our sump pumps failed. This example is a commercial example, but I think it could relate to both commercial and residential situations.

I was working on a commercial fishing boat, and we were 200 miles away from land. We would be away for 12 days fishing in the deep blue sea. And before we leave room where we stack and ice up our catch the crew has got to scrub it spotless and remove all waist. Well this particular voyage, Removing all the waste and clearing out the sumps was totally forgotten about.

We began making ice for two days, and regularly pumping out the overflow water, so everything was looking ok. When we begin fishing we work for 6 days then return home. And on day 5 you will never guess what happened? Yep, you got it the sump pump block up. And the only backup sump pump we had was a 240v submersible that we could cart around and use anywhere it was required.

This was great because at the time it was saving up from scooping up and bailing out the icy cold water. But you will never guess what had to happen next? Na, the power had cut out! Our generator had lost its injector pump. And then because we weren't epuiped with the best backup sump pump the crew had to bail that water out for the next two days!

We could have been able to prevent all that extra hard work in two ways. The first being, we could have checked that the boys had cleaned up properly! Or we could have been equiped with a set up that could be reliable in worst case scenario's.

Our backup pumping system was a joke when you look at what is available. Being on a boat that can just about always have a good flow of water, a water power backup sump pump that operates like a ventury would have been perfect. All we would of had to do is connect it up to one of our flows of water, and it would have sucked up all that water with ease. Being the best backup sump pump for most situations...
