Many people think of notice boards and blackboards as being outdated only used by teachers wearing tweed jackets and banging erasers together. However, there are many uses for notice boards in the modern day, not only for schools and colleges.

Many companies, especially in the drinks industry, use blackboards as a marketing tool. By placing a blackboard with their logo in pubs, bars and restaurants for discounted rates to their supplier, they get the brand in front of potential consumers. Using a notice board or blackboard as a marketing tool obviously wouldn't work for every business but it could definitely be a consideration for food and drink suppliers.

Notice boards, especially whiteboards, are very popular in the catering industry. If you are working in a busy restaurant kitchen, a whiteboard that gets updated with staff rotas, specials and items that have been sold out can be very handy. Pubs are very well known for having pub blackboards on tables and outside, promoting their latest lunch offers and pub quizzes.

With the rise in popularity of country chic interior design, blackboards have been in increased demand. A country style chalkboard can look fantastic in a kitchen to keep track of shopping lists and reminders. With various styles available, including hanging blackboards with pictures, they can help achieve that country life feel without breaking the bank at all.

Most large businesses will have a staff break room with a centralised notice board to display essential policies such as health and safety and fire evacuation procedure. This can be much easier than trying to speak to everyone individually about notices that they should have seen and read and avoids sending out mass emails or letters too.

The most modern notice board is probably the interactive whiteboard. This board cleverly connects to a computer or projector allowing it to effectively become a touch screen. This is obviously great for schools but can also be good for promoting computer programmes and software at exhibitions, leading a course and letting the attendees get some hands-on experience or you could even go so far as to feature one in a club or bar as a fun feature.
