No matter what your field of interest, Halifax is almost guaranteed to have a museum dedicated to the subject matter. Family friendly museums can be found all over Nova Scotia, with subjects ranging from basketball to ship wrecks. The choice is yours.

Some of the unique offerings include: Citadel Hill-home to historic reenactments, done by docents dressed up as either solders or bagpipers. At noon, each day, the big gun is fired off to the delight of visitors. Citadel Hill is open daily from May through October.

The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic has a big variety of historic naval or seagoing items including exhibits that tell the tale of the Titanic and the Halifax Explosion. In addition the museum has exhibits dedicated to the Canadian fishing industry, as well as the many shipwrecks that have occurred over the years in surrounding waters. One exhibit has kids in mind-based on a Canadian television program called Theodore Tugboat.

Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History offers programs that are both adult and kid friendly. Many items are of the touchy feely variety that kids love, including a touch tank, which is home to a tortoise named Gus.

HMCS Sackville is a floating museum that used to be a World War II tugboat called a Corvette. It is another of the hands on museums that bring joy to the little ones.

Don't visit Nova Scotia without dropping by the Sport Hall of Fame. Here it is all about the game, baseball, basketball, or hockey, doesn't matter. Every sport is enshrined here.

However, not all museums in Nova Scotia are for kids, some are for adults only including the Grand prehistoric Site in rural Annapolis Valley, or the historic homes of Windsor, to name two. Another exhibit aimed at adults is the Fisheries Museum in Lunenburg, or the Alexander Graham Bell Museum in Cape Breton. No matter where you look, there is something to bring pleasure to everyone.
