The whole area spreads out along the coast towards Balaia and Falesia linking together many popular tourist areas in the region. From sports to relaxing leisure activities there is something to suit all tastes and more importantly, budgets.

So now for some history about the resort, as there is no point choosing a resort with nothing exciting to explore and discover. Once a busy trading port, Albufeira had declined into a poor fishing town which had been swamped by natural disasters and the civil war. The resort started to rebuild itself in the sixties as its tourism potential started to shine. With hotels, restaurants and fantastic breaches all emerging at a quick pace, Albufeira quickly became one of the most popular resorts in Europe.

Many people describe Albufeira as being a 'holiday suburbia' which spreads across the coast line attracting crowds of people each year. One of the busiest areas is the 'Strip' a stretch to the east of town that is lined with dozens of cafes, restaurants and bars that stay open from morning till the early hours. The strip leads onto one of the best stretches of sand in Albufeira which offers water sports, sun loungers and crystal clear waters that are perfect for bathing.
