Number 2 my second vacation when i was five years old
This i remember much about being that little bit older, this time dad decided to drive to the south of France himself (he could not face the coach trip again) we nearly ran out of gas on the last part of the journey, so dad pulled in to a gas station at 4 in the morning and we all slpept untill the owner tapped on the window at 7 am and then we filled up and traveled the last 10 mile to the park at St Tropez.
Back in the day when we traveled a child passport had not even been thought of so kids could could sleep all the way to the destination if the wanted to, across the all the border crossings you had to show your passports for the adults but not the kids.
I must of slept through most of the trip becuase i don't remember going past check points, the vacation proper started the minute we entered the trailer park, excitment is such a briliaant thing i am sure i remember feeling giddy as we drove through the gates.
This time we had traveled alone so we had no other kids with us from home, it made no difference at all within a couple of hours we had made lots of new friands and the games we played with them all had much the same rules etc. as games at home so we soon picked them up.
When we had problems understanding the different languages we resorted to sign language at least our childrens version, this worked every time and really we had no problems.
The sun shone for the entire 2 weeks and vacation was a massive success for all the family.
