Nursing - A Saintly Profession

For all those who think that nursing is kind of a service which is for people who

like helping others, the latest news is that it has managed to become more gratifying than it ever was. This was said by the University of Rochester's School of Nursing's Dean. This turn in her career has been a surprise for her. But after years of experience in the same field, she has managed to reach a point where now she holds this post.

If she sometimes regrets that she has turned her white cap in for mortar board, it's because of nursing's new horizons. What makes her think like this is the fact that nursing no longer is the same as she remembers it. The prospects have completely changed. Now there are many people who are able to do the job that nurses were able to do earlier.

The nurses now have a completely different profile to follow and carry out duties earlier meant for the doctors.

The doctors are now not a common site as nurses when it comes to dealing with behavior problems of patients in outpatient sections, offices for physicians etc. Now you will see that the nurses themselves are playing important roles in the care of various patients who have been either burnt, have cancer, are pregnant or even are old. They are able to do this because they are not caught up in various kinds of chores that other people can handle.

The male side of the world too is taking active interest in joining the field of nursing because they think that there is no harm in entering this field. They are actually even doing really well and are progressing well. This is happening because of the movement of liberation. Male nurses are specializing in such heretofore female specialties as pediatrics, gynecology and maternity care.

We may wonder as to how men find this field of any interest. The reasons are no different from a woman the desire to earn well, to be able to serve people and at the same time study the subject of their interest. One can never find that there are absolutely no jobs in this field of nursing because of the immense demand all over the world. The field of nursing is especially attractive because there are many fields that one can opt for.

Little did we know that the liberation movement would bring about so much of change to the field of nursing! Now the nurses are able to be distinct and are not always associated with doctors only. The School of Nursing at the University of Rochester has an excellent plan for scholarships for those who want to take up this career seriously. However the training will not be paid for. Here is what she thinks a nurse needs to be successful in this field.

An interest in science is not the only aspect that you would be expected to have but you would also be expected to have a great love for the humans. He should also know the knack to dealing with situations that require immediate attention. Community service is an absolute must. Must be a mover or doer!
