Nuts, Bolts And Screws - It Sounds The Same To Me
Nuts, Bolts And Screws - It Sounds The Same To Me
I have to confess, on the subject of DIY, tools and other "manly subjects", I actually consider myself a dummy! I will be able to bring you a certain size spanner and I have a good idea of what a hammer and a screw is, but if hubby will ever send me to the hardware to buy wall anchors, nuts or bolts I am afraid I will rather take my wallet and go food shopping - at least that's something I understand!
That does not mean that I do not enjoy going to our neighborhood building supply retailer. When hubby is in one of those "let's fix the house" moods and stocking up on wall anchors and other items that I don't fully grasp, I am quite willing to browse the isles and look at all the various do it yourself and house decor tips and ideas that these stores also offer.
I think the garden section is probably my favourite section in these kinds of outlets. Whoever thought that it might be a good idea to have a gardening section in a typical DIY store sure had a good idea! In this section I feel completely at home and I can spend several hours looking at the different flowers, the beautiful planting pots on special and other products and ornaments that I can use in my garden.
Our building supply store even offers a section for the pets and I never go back home without a soft toy for our pup and some wild birdseed for the bird feeder in the garden.
Whilst hubby is exploring the home improvement section for his wall anchors, drills, pipes and handles, I will normally (once I'm done in the gardening and pet sections of course!) pull along and envy the different types and fashions of curtain rods and window treatments and also "borrow" a couple of ideas for our house.
We'll be moving into a new house shortly and I simply cannot wait to renovate the place! The only area in the house that freaks me out a bit is the kitchen. I don't know what the previous tenants got up to in that kitchen, but I know that new kitchen cupboards will be non-negotiable! I was initially quite put off with the whole idea; because (or so I thought!) a new kitchen would cost at least an arm and a leg. I was however amazed at how simple it is to design and built your own kitchen! Our building supplies retailer even offers shelves and cupboards, door handles, hinges and all the other tools necessary - so hubby will be able to build me the kitchen of my dreams!
So the very next time hubby mumbles something about wall anchors, sealant, spanners or paint, do not despair! Put on some lipstick and go to the store with him! You might also come across beautiful pots, decorative mirrors, blinds, curtain rods and other things that you actually understand! Just nonchalantly include it with the trolley and give hubby a beautiful smile. he will not be able to resist!
