Single moms are especially affected in a bad way. More education helps single mothers achieve on their jobs and take care of their families. More scholarships for single moms is one way to improve the situation. Because of his efforts many people now refer to Federal Pell Grants as Obama grants. With these grants, college-bound students can receive over $5,000 to pay for school. For mothers and other students, this is increase of available money is valuable help. Working mothers can pay for tuition and books or even daycare if that allows them to attend school. Another incentive to consider is the American Opportunity Tax Credit. Under this incentive program, education costs up to $4,000 are cleared. This is a worthy incentive, especially for schools that are less expensive. Since many single working mothers have low incomes, these programs are a major help. There are almost no restrictions on where and what a student studies. With more incentives, more ambitious adults will realize their goal to get a college degree. Making more efforts to improve education opportunities is the best way for President Obama to show that he values them. Through the recent stimulus package, many undergraduate and graduate loans will be less of a burden. In addition, the government is focusing on helping schools improve teaching and students improve performance. The President believes community colleges need to become viable options. Community colleges are more than a stepping stone on the way to a university. They are valuable institutions. In a 2007 speech called Reclaiming the American Dream, the President said that making college education more available is "the best investment we can make in our future." The President has shown a good effort to support his words through action. Grants for moms are just a small but vital part of the education mission.
