Obesity, A Growing Problem In America

Wow, can you believe it is another new year, that for some will mean trying to get

their weight under control, that seems to have controlled them the whole of last year, no matter how much they tried to reduce the weight, success seemed to be happening for some while fleeting for others that will carry the ordeal into the new year. It is really easier said than done. It is easy to see why many people become perplexed by the different diets available, that have limited success and really isn't that surprising.

Obesity is occurring early in childhood and is affecting at least one third of 9 month old babies in this country, according to the latest research information. Many of these will outgrow this disease, but these research figures are none the less sobering and staggering. Concerned persons are asking what is the real factors that determine obesity?

It is believed that heredity is a major factor player, but this isn't really surprising, due to the poor eating habits passed down through consecutive generations that in effect will change the actual genetic makeup that the child is receiving. It now cannot be denied that the size and weight of your parents and their parents do factor into your chances of being obese. The ole saying of "we are what we eat, has been proven to be very true and prophetic. The lucky ones can eat whatever they wish without concern about obesity, but this certainly isn't for the majority of the normal population. Anyone with this new research information can change the outcome for themselves by eating a diet that is more natural, healthy and processed food free. You do have a choice in what your children will have to deal with by changing your diet now.

To see if you or your children are at risk for obesity, all you will need to do is continue your regular health checkups and voice your concerns and talk about this matter to your doctor as well as your child's pediatrician. Most people are not aware of the changes coming to the doctors office that include a healthier lifestyle and necessary changes through more holistic models that will help all their patients understand the importance of the risk factors and the negative effects on future generations in the future, if they don't take the responsible of change seriously.

Obesity is a growing problem in America and one that is causing many health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Many people don't know where to begin when they are looking to get healthier but a good place to start is with your primary health care physician. They can help you move in a direction of health and wellness for a better quality of life.
