Obstacles help you grow

We all face tough situations in our life from time to time but it's how we react to those situations that give us an indication of how we really see the world. When we react in a negative way to obstacles that occur we just set ourselves up for more of the same further down the line.

Most of the time our negative reaction to life's troubles are automatic and this is just a habit we have ingrained into our sub-conscious mind over the years. The way we see the world (reality) is through a narrow viewpoint when we react negatively to life's troubles even though logically they're a part of life as a whole.

The definition of madness is to continually do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. I know that statement doesn't seem to correspond directly to the point I'm trying to make but is it not crazy to react in a negative way to life's obstacles even though they are an integral part of life.

It's not as if we expect everything to go smoothly for us all the time. Besides, a life without problems would not be as fruitful. We can appreciate the good times only through contrast with the bad.

There are many benefits to looking at life's obstacles through the lens of an optimist viewpoint.

The first benefit is that we can see the problem for what it really is without escalating it into something far worse than it really is. The moment you lose your head or try to push the problem away is the moment you lose focus thus, dealing with the problem has just got harder.

The second benefit is that you keep your emotions in check which will not only help you work through the problem much easier but will also benefit you throughout the rest of the day. Plus, over a period of time this will also benefit your health too.

The third benefit you get when looking at life's problems through the lens of an optimist is you will be able to take a step back and see that whenever a bad situation arises there is always an equally good seed hidden within. You can always learn something valuable from life's problems if you detach yourself from the negative and focus on the lesson hidden inside. What can I learn from this situation' is always a good question to ask yourself when faced with a difficult situation.

The fourth and most important benefit you will gain from looking at troublesome situations in a positive way is that over time you will start to realize that life is exactly what it is meant to be. There's no good or bad, there's just lessons to be learned. You realize that obstacles encountered along the way are just opportunities for you to grow.

The more we accept the good and push away the bad the more we live an unbalanced life. Remember, don't be concerned with what happens outside of yourself, but be absolutely concerned with how you react to what happens outside of you.
