To obtain the highest level of aircraft pilot certification

, a rigorous level of Fort Lauderdale Airline Transport Pilot training will have to be successfully completed at one of the accredited Fort Lauderdale aviation schools. The Fort Lauderdale Airline Transport Certificate is the hardest to acquire and the most valuable to have. As of 2009, there were only 144,600 certified Airline Transport Pilots in the United States compared to 211,619 Private Pilots. The standards set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for obtaining a Fort Lauderdale Airline Transport Certificate are far more demanding than any of the other pilot certificates.

In order to obtain a Fort Lauderdale Airline Transport Certificate, a person must be at least 23 years old and have the ability speak, read and write the English language proficiently. Before embarking on Fort Lauderdale Airline Transport Pilot training, a Commercial Pilot Certificate should already be obtained. An instrument rating should have also been achieved through successful completion at one of the Fort Lauderdale aviation schools.

Fort Lauderdale Airline Transport Pilot training covers a wide range of areas in which the pilot must prove proficient. A person applying for the Fort Lauderdale airline transport certificate must have a logbook endorsement from an authorized flight instructor that verifies completion of ground and flight training in these areas.

In addition to the Fort Lauderdale Airline Transport Pilot training, the pilot must have accumulated a minimum of 1,500 hours of flight time. Within the 1,500, the pilot must log 500 hours of cross country flying and 100 hours of night time flying. Additionally, the pilot must have flown as pilot-in-command for a minimum of 100 hours cross country and at least 25 hours of night time flight. The pilot must have logged at least 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight time which can be performed in part in a flight simulator at one of the Fort Lauderdale aviation schools.

A certified flight instructor who is usually associated with one of the Fort Lauderdale aviation schools will administer the Fort Lauderdale Airline Transport Certificate testing. The test will include a written examination, oral examination and the practical test. The practical test will consist of demonstrating mastery of the aircraft being used for the test and performing each required task with proficiency. The applicant must show sound judgment in all applicable areas during the test. Failure to perform any task during the practical test results in a failure of the entire test. The certified examiner can end the test at any time.
