Bordered to the west by Guatemala, and to the southeast by Nicaragua, Honduras is a republic in central America.

Visit the Copan ruins, which is where the Mayan culture flourished. They were declared a world heritage site in the late eighties, and the ruins are complex structures, offering plazas and temples in their scores. You can experience scuba diving, white water rafting and reef fishing here if you are a bit more of a daredevil, or you can just relax and soak up the rays on one of the beautiful beaches.

Visit on e of the national parks on the mainland and see scores of howler monkeys in their natural habitat. The country is plagued by unemployment and HIV/AIDs, but the country is experiencing a revolution and rising from the folds of a little country, to improve its social systems and economy.

Honduras is really accessible, taking only one hour and fifty five minutes from Miami. There are plenty of little islands, or cays, to visit.
