Microsoft Office 2007 boasts a range of applications bundled together to provide individual Office packages to meet the requirements of the end user. So a home user using Office Home and Student 2007 (featuring Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint and Word 2007) has a package that suits their own needs better than had they acquired the Office Small Business 2007 bundle, which features Excel, Outlook (with business contact manager), PowerPoint, publisher and Word 2007. With six different bundles or versions of the Office 2007 package available, home users, students, small businesses, medium to large national companies and international businesses can discover the ideal Office application combinations to suit their own particular needs. Considerable re-designing of the user interface has been undertaken with this version of Office 2007 in order to simplify operations and create a swifter, more efficient process. The Office Assistant, from earlier versions, has disappeared to be replaced by the Microsoft Help icon, with each program boasting its own Help home page, which features how-to articles, templates, product information and Help. In fact, help when and if you need it. The Ribbon is a new feature in Office 2007 that replaces toolbars and menus and has been designed to assist task completion by allowing users to locate program appropriate commands quickly. Office 2007 has created contextual command tabs, so, that only apt editing tools appear with each program. So, chart edit tools would not appear as a command in Access 2007 nor Word, where its use would be redundant, but, would feature in Excel, where its presence could prove to be essential. Commands that are most frequently utilised are given greater prominence, making it quicker and easier to complete tasks in all programs associated with Office 2007, with some commands (i.e. paste, cut and copy etc) given prime locations in every program. Lesser used commands have not been dispensed with, but, are accessed through a drop down menu. Galleries present users with end result options to select from when working on spreadsheets, on databases, documents or presentations, which help to create work of a professional quality, but, very efficiently. With Office 2007, Microsoft has produced a range of programs that will assist end users, whatever their requirements, work smarter, better and quicker, but, creating best quality end products and presentations.About the Author:
