Oily Hair
Every hair has its pros and cons
Every hair has its pros and cons. Oily hair happens to be one of the common problems. With the common problem there are common solutions which, used wisely can be very helpful for all the people with oily hair. One of the things which can be done to remove the oil from your hair is to eat healthy food.
Treatment for dry hair: Dry hair is usually thin and rough in structure. It easily gets tangled and has splits at the end of the hair fiber. Therefore an oil massage is required. Some of the therapies that are practiced at home are given below and after applying them they are rinsed with water.
Although over washing your hair can often cause it to become more oily, it is said that the hair should be washed more frequently than if it were dry. This is to make sure that the scalp is cleansed. If you do decide to wash your hair daily, make sure you are using a mild shampoo.
Natural remedies are particularly effective such as talcum powder and lemon juice. Talcum powder can be used when you do not have much time and you need a quick fix to get rid of excess oil. Simply sprinkle a little through your hair, leave it on for around fifteen minutes and then brush it out. The hair should look shiny, dryer and it should be virtually oil free (at least for the time being).
The oil in hair is produced by glands. This oil is called sebum. Sebum naturally moisturizes our heads and our hair draws the oil from the scalp down into our locks and tresses as well. In adolescence it is common for the sebaceous glands to produce excess amounts of oil and this is what gives teenagers the greasy hair that is so often a plague among this sensitive group.
Use a mild shampoo if you wash your hair every day, it is better to choose a mild shampoo over one designed specifically for oily hair because the latter shampoo might be too harsh. Sure, it might get rid of the oiliness of your hair, but it could damage it in the process!
Most people who have oily skin also have oily hair; teens are also particularly susceptible to oily hair and skin because of the rapid change in hormone levels. Fine haired people are also susceptible to oily hair because the diameter of each hair is much smaller so there is not as much of each hair to absorb the oil. Genetics often play a part in whether or not you have oily hair.
The main cause of oily hair is down to the androgen, or male hormones within the body. They are responsible for the production of oil and the higher the androgen levels, the more oil they produce. Often we have more androgen levels during puberty, or males who are taking steroid enhancing drugs will also have higher levels of the hormone.
To truly beat oily hair, you will need to take serious shampooing action. Scientists recommend a clear shampoo, because it will leave behind less residue than other types. Scrub it into your scalp and leave on for five minutes, then rinse. Then, test your scalp to see if it is still sticky. If this is the case, shampoo again! It may even be useful to apply an astringent directly to your scalp after washing so that any oil causing bacteria is removed.
