Living and working abroad is the dream of many of people
. Who hasn't thought of living in a different country? It is by experiencing other cultures that we learn how to enhance our own.
But many people don't know it is possible to live abroad. They don't know what jobs are suited for this life style. Or if they can gain the skills they need.
This article gives you a non-scientific list of the top 6 jobs for working overseas. It is based only on my opinion, and talking to tons of people who have done it.
With enough creativity, I believe anyone can rewrite their skills and experience into a job abroad. But, here are 6 ideas ranked from worst to best, once again, in my opinion, to get you started.
Your Current Field
Many people live and work offshore in their current field. This can be done through internal transfers. Or just by applying for a job they are qualified for in another country.
This option works best for very specific jobs, and they can be very difficult to come by. In almost all cases, you are going to need a degree in your chosen field.
Typical examples of jobs in this category are engineers, finance (banking), doctors and other health careers.
Nurses and Care Aids
Speaking of health professionals, nurses and care aids are number five. Nurses are in short supply all over the world. This means that many countries have special visas available for nurses. In fact, in many countries, depending on where you come from, you may not even need a nursing degree to get a job and visa as a care aid. Nurses work in, and come from all over the world.
Teaching English
One of the most common overseas jobs is Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). This job technically only needs a certificate and there are openings in many countries. Experience in teaching is definitely an asset. Also, in most cases TESL is a way to supplement your existing travel. The pay scale in most countries is not very high. But, there are exceptions. Job options are plentiful as are locations to work. Teaching English is also an excellent stepping stone into other types of work in a specific country due to the contacts you make.
Travel Writing
Travel writing is one of the more thrilling jobs you can obtain overseas. Travel writers can write about one specific location, or they can travel around. They also work as foreign reporters in various exciting places. Travel writing is however very competitive. It's very rare for travel writers to make a full time living just doing travel writing. And even rarer for a travel writer to get rich.
Freelance Writing
This actually leads into the second best overseas job, which is freelance writing. By expanding your writing, instead of just travel, doors open up all over. With the advent of the internet, it no longer matters where you are in the world. You can e-mail your articles, transcripts or even books anywhere you want. Work for writers has increased dramatically over the last couple of years, since website owners need content, articles, sales pages etc. for their websites.
Internet Marketing
This leaves you with the number one, top career choice for making a life offshore a reality. Internet Marketing. This career is getting more competitive, but there is no job, anywhere, where some one with very little money and no credentials can make as much money as you can with online marketing. You can make anywhere from a couple hundred dollars per month, up to hundreds of thousands.
And internet marketing is a career that lends itself to any experience you have in your life. Almost anyone can make internet marketing work. Once they find the path that fits.
