One Thing Network Marketing Leaders Hate

You know what network marketing leaders hate? "Outsiders" selling stuff to their downline

. You know why they hate it so much? Because they can't do it themselves! Obviously, the point of building a network marketing downline is to make money off of the team. But the companies are pretty strict about just how you make money. They frown on tool selling, or outside "systems" etc. that they fear will distract the group from what they want them to be buying: their own products.

The leaders are in a tough situation. If they start pushing "tools" on their team, they get a bad rap. Or worse, their company comes down on them. But when somebody from the outside comes along with a great idea, the whole downline might buy it, and some geeky schmuck makes profits off of a group that took the leader five years to build!

But the fact is, people are going to buy tools, systems, training courses, personal development books and audios, etc. And the truth be known, it's a heckofalot easier to sell to an existing downline than to build one!

This is the secret of so many great marketers right now: it's easier to sell to an existing downline than to build one. It's like selling shovels to miners. Do you know the story? Samuel Brannan was the first millionaire of the California gold rush, but he didn't dig up a single ounce of gold.

All he did is set up shop selling tools and supplies to the miners. All those miners flocked into California with stars in their eyes and a spring in their step, to get rich! And Samuel Brannan was the sharpest of the group, and realized that all of those excited prospectors would need picks, shovels, lamps, fuel, tents, food etc.

As a matter of fact, the first thing he did is buy out all of the shovels from the mercantile stores in the area, and mark up the price. From there, he built the biggest mining supply outfit in the San Francisco area, becoming the first official millionaire of the gold rush! And while many miners went home with their hopes dashed, Samual Brannan made money on every single one of them in some way.

The moral of the story? There's more money, and easier money, in selling tools to the gold miners than recruiting them into your business. You may or may not like it, but as a business person you ought to at least think about it, and make sure your strategy includes selling some shovels!
