One Train You Don't Want to Stop
I love horses, frankly I love them a little to much, thus the reason I have more horses than I could ever use. I mean really what are you going to do with 7 horses?
There are many things I love about horses but perhaps one of the biggest thrills I get is training an animal that is ten times the size I am and getting them to do what I want, not necessarily what they want. Although each horse I have ever trained is extremely different with unique personalities, there is a simple training process that can be adapted for each animal. Reward good behavior and punish bad behavior. Let me give you an example.
Most horses don't like to run! Given a choice they will walk around all day and eat. So when I am training my horses if they do something that I am not happy with I punish them by making them run. It is shocking how quickly the horse catches on. They quickly realize that if they do something inappropriate there is a direct consequence that they do not like. On the other hand, when they do something that I like they are immediately rewarded. And the reward does not have to be complex: a pat, some brushing or simply letting them stand still and do nothing is often reward enough.
Too often in life we get so caught up in trying to get people to do what we want when we want that we don't stop to think, "is there are better way?" Simply stated there is a better way "Train" them.
It doesn't matter whether you are talking about your business, your personal life or even how you interact with your friends. It is possible to train them for the results you want. For example if you want your clients to leave reviews of your products, reward the behavior you want, i.e " for each review of our product you will get entered in a chance to win a free case of XYZ".
You can train your clients too: Visit more often, leave reviews, refer yourself/your product to others, become repeat customers and on and on. You just have to start training them!
