One of the more common complaints that guys will make about online dating is that..

. well, they just aren't meeting anyone. So, they come to the conclusion that online dating does not work, and they get reinforcement of that idea from other guys who have come to the same conclusions. However, that's not really true. Because as the guys who fail to attract women online are doing their failing, there ARE guys who are succeeding and even thriving.

What makes the difference?

The ones who thrive are doing things differently. They are not making the same mistakes that the other guys are making again and again. They have found a way that works, and they are using that way. To be able to turn things around and make online dating work for you, there are some mistakes that you just cannot make.

Here are a few mistakes that you probably are making if you are not meeting women online:

1) You are probably ignoring the simple fact that YOU have to make the first move.

This is one of the first things that I see guys do wrong when they use online dating sites to meet women. They wait for the women to instant message them. And they wait and they wait and they scratch their head. This is not a Field of Dreams. It's not like you can build a profile and they will come. You have to man up and make the first move.

2) You are probably dripping with desperation.

Choose your words wisely. And I don't mean just in the instant messaging, I also mean in the actual profile. If you are trying to win over women with the "I've been hurt before" kind of image, then expect to repel way more women than you will ever attract.. You have to make it seem like you are a guy who is worth dating, not a guy who they want to feel sorry for.

3) You are probably not very good at describing yourself.

Look, one of the things that you have to do on an online dating site is... you have to "sell" yourself. Not in a dirty way, but in the way that you make yourself seem like the best guy on the whole site. How do you do that? Get good at describing yourself in a way that accentuates any positives that you have. If you are trying to win over a woman so that she wants to get to know you, the last thing that you want to have her think is that you are a boring and drab kind of guy.
