Who among us hasn't had an ah-ha moment at some point in their life

Then for most people it's just not a 'multimillion dollar' idea. An idea that unfortunately turns out to be too small for all that it takes to get it off the ground.

Today however, thanks to the Internet, converting a marketing idea into actual cash is easier than it's ever been before. No need for a store because it's all done online. In fact there are even online services now that will take your orders, package the goods up and send them off for you.


Step #1 - Market Research

So step one is market research and skipping it can be an expensive mistake. With market research you'll accomplish a number of things before you even get started, so when you do start to make your moves you won't waste a step.

For example you need to identify your ideal target markets. These are where you're going to focus your efforts to get the most return for your public relations and advertising money. Then with market research you can also get public feedback to see if there's any adjustments or 'tweaking' that needs to be done before you hit the real marketplace.

Step #2 - Launch Website

Then when you're ready to go with your product or service, and all your market research is done, it's time to launch a website. Getting a good website up can be an expensive prospect and learning as you go off your own mistakes will make it even more expensive.

So you'd be well advised to talk to some experts before you make your moves on your website design. In the meantime though, do some browsing online to check out other companies websites in a similar market niche. Why re-invent the wheel when you can pick and choose from other peoples ideas that have been proven to work?


Step #3 - Promote your Site

Even if you've come up with an idea that's brand-new and nobody else has seen it yet you're still going to have to promote your website. You have to identify key words and key phrases that are relevant to whatever it is you plan on selling and then focus on those keywords and key phrases with SEO and link building for your site.

Thinking that you're going to go 'viral', that your idea is just going to 'snowball down the mountainside' on its own momentum is ludicrous. It just doesn't happen with products and services. Then counting on simple word-of-mouth to spread your idea around the net is another mistake that can cost you precious time.
