From time to time I will still end up watching a commercial on television
. Generally my viewing has moved almost entirely off of live television and onto DVR'ed programming that I get to control. This means I can watch every program that matters to me almost entirely commercial free at whatever time I want. This control is great for me but likely bad for television's current business model and really bad for whatever brands happen to be selling their wares between the segments of episodes of New Girl and The Daily Show. Advertisers in the past few decades have attempted to do more and more to show that they are hip or edgy, literally anything to get people to pay some of their collectively divided attention to their ads. I wonder sometimes if they are getting any attention at all.
To that end there is a new way to market your company that is rooted in finding a very specific and targeted market and exploiting their needs. The primary engine for this new brand of marketing is of course the internet where people's very specific needs can be isolated and identified. Through the use of hyper linked keywords attached to blogs and a wide array of social networking platforms traffic is driven to business's websites through focused optimization of search terms. This probably makes not a whole lot of sense to the average reader as a concept. Not dissimilar to traditional marketing companies which have a lot of information and expertise on what drives people to make purchases and persuasive triggers to get them there, and online marketing agency knows how to drive traffic so you do not have to.
Internet marketing is a great way to effectively advertise to people who want what you are selling. Gone are the days where someone uninterested might flip past an ad you took out in the local paper or on television.
