Online petition launched for Qatar Airways flights to Birmingham

The petition, athttp://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/flights-to-birmingham-with-qatar-airways/, is aiming for the flights to be launched as the petitioner feels that there is enough demand for an operation and that it would benefit the environment and community.

At current, the petition is aiming for a grand total of 5000 signatures and the petition has so far been posted on some news sites and aviation forums, but the petitioner is aiming to give the petition a larger push by encouraging people from all around the world, mainly Qatar and the Midlands, to support the petition and get the word out.This can be done by posting the petition on many aviation forums and major news sites.

Many new long-haul services from Birmingham Airport in the past couple of years have just bombed, this being US Airways' service to Philadelphia, which only lasted for one season in 2009, Hellenic Imperial Airways' service to Jeddah via Athens on a B747 which only lasted two flights due to low booking demand, also in 2009, Air Syhlet started a service to Amritsar via Vienna which also lasted a few weeks. Air India operated a Delhi-Amritsar-Birmingham-Toronto service from 2005 to 2008 which had good loads year round, but was axed for slot protection at Heathrow, British Airways' service to New York and Toronto, and American Airlines' service to Chicago.

This petition is to stop anything like that to happen again, by having a permanent and regular long-haul operation from Birmingham with a 5 star airline. As soon as 5000 signatures are collected as soon as possible, the petition will be sent off to the airline for their consideration.
