Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the country. The day after Thanksgiving is not a Federal holiday, but many companies announce an off on this day. The day, which is popular as Black Friday, is considered to be start of the Christmas shopping season. Almost all the retailers in the United States offer the best deals of the year on one of the busiest days of shopping.

The concept behind the term 'black' in the 'Black Friday' is that businesses record their losses in red ink and profits in black. Thus, on that particular Friday, cash registers go black with profit! Walmart, Amazon, E-bay, Target, Toys R Us, True Value, Sears, Best Buy, Babies R Us, KMart are among the hundreds of retailers, who offer the best deals of the year on the Black Friday.

On the Black Friday every year, many stores open as early as midnight on the start of the Friday and remain open for 24 hours throughout the day until midnight the following Saturday. More than 100 million people in the country participate in the Black Friday shopping rush every year. Consumers mainly look for the electronics, gadgets, toys, books, decorative and gift items on the largest shopping day of the year in the United States.
