Operation Of The Bb Guns

BB guns have limited accuracy and lack the spring mechanism for long distance accuracy

. This makes the BB guns use the simpler and less expensive methods of operation. They can however operate in a similar way as that of air guns.

Most of the BB guns used today are made up of steel. This is the reason why magnets are used to hold the BB at the end of the barrel as the BB pallets are too hard and cannot be pushed in to the barrel mouth. In the absence of a magnet the Bb would roll out of the barrel and will not be held by the barrel.

The more common operation by which the BB guns function is based o the liver action system. Such guns have huge capacity for ammunitions and are gravity based. The guns need to be held at a proper angle with respect to the earth when the pellets get loaded in to the gun.

The other operational system common in a BB gun is the multi-pump pneumatic. The special features of these type of BB guns are that they have rifled barrels. As the BB pallets are hard and smaller than the barrel size so they fail to get fitted on the barrel. The rifles therefore fail to give significant spin that would provide projection to the pallets. Such guns will benefit most when lead shots are used. The BB gun with the pneumatic power system produces greater speed and much higher projectiles than the traditional spring piston type BB guns.

Lastly, pre-compressed gas is the other common type of power for BB guns. The 12 gram CO2 powerlet is the most common type of gas power used for the powering of the BB guns. The BB gets propelled by the 12 gm liquid carbon dioxide gas present in the bottle that vaporizes forming a gas and is the source for powering the propellation of the BB pallet. This mechanism was invented by Crosman and the bottle containing the liquid carbon dioxide gas is disposable. This mechanism is primarily seen in pistol type BB guns. The other major feature of this power system is that unlike the other power systems this makes rapid firing possible with the help of the Bb guns. A typical BB pistol with pre compressed gas power uses a spring-loaded magazine for feeding the BBs, and a trigger mechanism to propel the bullets.
