Traditional roller skating is still as popular as ever and remains very fashionable, particularly among younger people. Roller skates of course have four wide wheels on the underside of each skate. Aggressive skates are for more experienced skaters and are designed for performing the type of gravity-defying leaping and spinning stunts more normally associated with skateboarding. Ironically, aggressive skates have smaller wheels as this gives the skater a greater level of control.

Ice skating of course remains as popular as ever. With a single blade at the base rather than wheels, ice skates can be taken to a local ice rink and tried out for very little cost.
